  • How do I book time at Sew+Sew?
    Studiotime, Private Lessons, and Workshops are available to book through our calendar. For Studiotime and workshops, click "book" on the date and time and follow the prompts to complete your reservation. For Private Lessons, click on the lesson length you desire and it will show you available calendar slots. Choose and date and time and follow the prompts to complete the reservation. Email phillysews@gmail.com with any additional questions around booking time.
  • How many people can sign up for a session?
    Studiotime and Workshops cap at 6 people, allowing each person a desk and machine to work at. Reservations are intended for one person per timeslot. Private lessons are intended for one person per timeslot. If you would like to reserve a private lesson for multiple people, please email phillysews@gmail.com with how many people and we will follow up with you.
  • Do I need a sewing machine?
    Nope! Sew+Sew has sewing machines you can use during your session. We have heavy duty machines, sergers, and a coverstitch machine. You are also welcome to bring in your sewing machine if you would like to use it. If you do bring your own machine, be sure to remember bobbins and your power cord.
  • What if I can't sew?
    Gotta start somewhere! You can sign up for one of our Intro to Sewing workshops or a private lesson and learn sewing machine basics and finish a small project in one day.
  • Can I reschedule my time?
    Due to our limited space, all reservations are non-refundable. If you need to reschedule, please contact phillysews@gmail.com within 48 hours of purchase. No rescheduling within 72 hours of Studiotime (emergency exceptions only)
  • What tools does Sew+Sew provide?
    scissors (paper, fabric, snips) marking tools (chalk, markers, pens, etc) rulers rotary cutters 6foot x 3foot cutting table with self-healing mats. ironing station pins
  • Can I bring my own tools?
    Absolutely! We know how easy it is to have a favorite tool.
  • Do I bring my own materials?
    You are responsible for your pattern, instructions, fabric, thread, and notions - unless the workshop includes it (which will be clear in the listing) or other arrangements have been made.
  • How do I know what fabric to get?
    All your fabric and notions requirements will be listed in your pattern instructions. How much fabric you need will be based on the size and type of project you are making. The project will have fabric options recommended for that specific project.
  • How do I get to Sew+Sew?
    WE ARE LOCATED AT 155 CECIL B MOORE AVE IN FISHTOWN BETWEEN FRONT AND 2ND ST ​ BY BICYCLE ENJOY THE BRAND NEW BIKE LANE ON AMERICAN AVE. THERE ARE SIGN POSTS TO LOCK TO ON CECIL B BY TRAIN THE STUDIO IS A 9 MINUTE WALK FROM THE BERKS STOP ON THE FRANKFORD LINE BY SEPTA ROUTE 57 STOPS AT AMERICAN + CECIL B JUST A COUPLE BLOCKS FROM THE STUDIO BY CAR THERE IS STREET PARKING AVAILABLE ON HANCOCK, MASCHER, CECIL B AND SURROUNDING STREETS. PLEASE CHECK SIGNS SINCE SOME ZONES ARE 1-2 HOUR PARKING. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE BUILDING LOT THOSE SPOTS ARE RESERVED FOR TENANTS AND YOU MAY BE TOWED
  • Is there parking?
    Street parking is available on Cecil B and the surrounding streets. Do check the signs as the parking rule change from block to block. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE BUILDING LOT Those spaces are reserved for tenants, and you may be towed.
  • How do I access the studio?
    Once you get to the door at 155 Cecil B Moore, look to the left and you will see our sparkly doorbell. Someone will guide you to the studio from there.
  • Is Sew+Sew wheelchair accessible?
    Unfortunately, not. While we are on the first floor, it does require stepping up and down 5 steps to reach our space.
  • How long will my project take?
    That is going to be specific to your project and personal ability. Always assume it will take a little longer than expected.
  • Ask the sewing machines industrial?
    Our machines are heavy duty but not industrial. Thickness in jeans and canvas is ok but please note some fabrics may not work with our set up. We caution against thick leathers and vinyl with these machines.
  • What sewing machines are available to use?
    We have a variety of sewing machines for visitors to use. Standard machines, 3 and 4 thread sergers, and a coverstitch machine. The majority of our machines are from between 1968-1989.
